Socrates Mitakos was born in Larissa where he grew up and spent his school years.
He studied Dentistry in Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki from 1988 to 1993.
In 1994 he goes to France in order to do post-graduate studies in mouth biology (C.E.S. Biologie Buccale, Option histo-embryologie)
After that, he specialises in Pedodontics in Claude Bernard University in Lyon until 1997 (C.E.S. pedodontie).
During the same time he is employed as scientific associate (attache’ hospitallier) in the Pedodontics Section of Montpellier University.
From 1998 to 2000 he is doing his military service in Navy working as a dentist in Poros and the Naval Health Benefit Fund.
Αfter completing his military service he works as a pedodontist in several dental surgeries in Athens and in 2001 he meets Constantinos Paradisis, with whom he collaborates to create dent-a-kid surgeries in Pallini and Nea Makri.
He is a member of the Hellenic Pedodontic Society as well as other international pedodontic societies and he participates in various conferences and seminars in Greece and abroad.
He is married to Myriam Elice and has a son, Alexis.

He is a member of the following Associations :Orthodontic Association of Greece, Association of Orthodontic and Gnathofacial Research and Study, Professional Orthodontic Society of Greece, European Orthodontic Association, American Orthodontic Association, International Orthodontic Society.
He is married to Chrysanthi Roboti (endocrinologist) and father to Alexander and Margarita.
